Advances on Association Between DEHP Exposure and Atopic Dermatitis among Children

  • Di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is one of the ubiquitous environmental pollutants exposed by children. The rising prevalence of atopic dermatitis among children is possibly highly associated with DEHP exposure. In this paper, domestic and foreign studies related to the relationship between DEHP exposure and atopic dermatitis among children were reviewed. Environmental attributions of childhood atopic dermatitis were discussed based on epidemiological studies and animal experiments; and combined with in vitro studies, the adjuvant effects of DEHP on atopic dermatitis were discussed in detail. Moreover, existing problems and further research directions were pointed out.
