Reflections on ethical issues in occupational medical examination

  • Occupational medical examination is one of the important means to effectively curb the occurrence and development of occupational diseases, by which we could find the adverse health effects of occupational hazards at an early stage. In recent years, the National Health and Family Planning Commission has revised the Management Method of Occupational Medical Examination and the Technical Specifcations for Occupational Health Surveillance to identify occupational contraindications and suspected occupational diseases, and to standardize occupational health surveillance as well. In this paper, we systematically analyzed the issues and challenges of occupational health surveillance in China in view of ethical issues.
