Application of a Three-in-One Drining Water Monitoring System in Health Inspection of Expo 2010, Shanghai

  • Objective To examine effects, efficiency and capability of a three-in-one drinking water monitoring system for routine health inspection in a mass gathering event.

    Methods Data of online monitoring, onsite rapid detections and lab oratory assays were collected during the period of Expo 2010, Shanghai.

    Results The sample qualified rates of the direct drinking water and the tap water were 90.1% and 97.3% respectively and no drinking water contamination was reported in the period of the Expo.

    Conclusion It was the first application of the three-in-one drinking water monitoring system in a mass gathering event. The results of drinking water online monitoring, onsite rapid detections and laboratory assays werereal-time updated to the health inspection agency which could make quick reaction to any drinking water quality issue and secure drinking water safety for visitors. The current study accumulate experiences for future drinking water health inspection in mass gathering events in the future.
