Resistance of Multidrug Resistant Escherichia Coli to Four Kinds of Disinfectants

  • Objective To test the resistance of multidrug resistant Escherichia coli to common hospital disinfectants, so as to provide reference for choosing sensitive and high efficiency disinfectants.

Methods The multidrug resistant Escherichia coli were isolated and collected from clinical specimens. K-B disk diffusion method and nutrient broth dilution method were used to determine the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of four kinds of disinfectants. Standard strains were processed in parallel as the controls.

Results The MIC of four disinfectants to the multidrug resistant Escherichia coli were different from their recommended concentrations. The MIC of An'erdian Skin Antiseptic II (available iodine) was (17.5& #177;6.8) mg/L; that of Jifro Hand Antiseptic Rinse Free Gel (DP300, triclosan) was (2.9& #177;1.8) mg/L; that of 3M Avagards Antiseptic Hand Rub (chlorhexidine gluconate) was (145.8& #177;85.4) mg/L; and that of L& #252;shaxin Aiershi Disinfectant Tablet (available chlorine) was (2 611.7& #177;1 083.0) mg/L.

Conclusion There are differences between the actual concentrations of four disinfectants and their recommended concentrations. Corresponding adjustment to the concentrations can delay the occurrence of bacterial resistance and also has an important significance for the control of nosocomial infection.
