Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the performance of the reconstructed health system in Dujiangyan after the Wenchuan earthquake aided by the Shanghai medical and health system (SHMEHS), and to provide more information for post-disaster health system reconstruction.
Methods By using focus group interviews, intensive individual interviews, and street intercept interviews, the performance of the health system reconstruction in Dujiangyan were qualitatively evaluated, and related comments were also provided.
Results The rapid recovery of the medical and health system in Dujiangyan with pairing assistance from the SHMEHS was manifested by rational configuration and fully functional running of all facilities and equipment, quick improved competence of services providing and management in medical staff, and general acceptance of system performance by the local residents.
Conclusion Supports provided by the SHMEHS substantially promote the health system reconstruction in Dujiangyan.
