Research Progress on DNA Methylation of Asthma Related Genes Induced by Air Pollutants

  • Bronchial asthma, a common chronic airway inflammation disease with increasing incidence rate, is very harmful to human health. Previous studies have shown that epigenetic regulation plays an important role in the pathogenesis and exacerbation of asthma induced by particulate matters. This review summarized the status quo of research on the methylation changes of selected important genes in the pathogenesis of asthma, such as iNOS, FOXP3, IFNG, IL-4, IL-13, and STAT6, aiming to provide ideas for future research of methylation of asthma related genes.
