Progress of Medical Nutrition Therapy for Type 2 Diabetes

  • As a part of intervention to lifestyle, the Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)could not only reduce the risk of diabetes by 30%-58%, but also control and prevent diabetes-related complications. A reduction of HbAlc(by 1% of patients with type 1 diabetes and 1%-2% of patients with type 2 diabetes) and LDL-C level(by 150-250 mg/d) was found 3 to 6 months after MNT. This article discuss the principles and standards of MNT, dietary treatments, as well as the global progress and application of MNT systematically.
