Study on the Effectiveness of Exercise Intervention among Pre-diabetics in Huangpu District, Shanghai

  • Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of exercise intervention among pre-diabetics.

Methods The study subjects were divided into intervention group (58) and control group (58) randomly according to their neighborhoods. The intervention group received a 6-month personalized exercise intervention, and the control group received the routine neighborhood follow-up visit.

Results The fasting plasma glucose, glucose tolerance, glycosylated hemoglobin, systolic pressure and diastolic pressure of the intervention group decreased to a larger extent than those of the control group through a 6-month exercise intervention, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05).

Conclusion The exercise intervention has rendered a positive outcome on improving glucolipid metabolism among the pre-diabetics. This group of subjects need to be further attended in neighborhood.
