FDA issues final rule on safety and effectiveness of antibacterial soaps
In September 2016, USFDA announced a ban on 19 compounds in antibacterial soap, such as triclosan and triclocarban, mainly because manufacturers cannot provide the safety and effectiveness data of those compounds. To our knowledge,7 compounds including triclocarban, triclosan, and phenol have been more studied in China; 4-hexylresorcinol, methyl benzethonium chloride, and nonylphenoxypoly (ethyleneoxy) ethanoliodine have a few toxicological profiles availbale; and the rest are poorly understood.
